The steps to voting
After an election is called, you have a multiple voting options..
1) Vote on election day
2) Vote at your advance poll
3) Vote at your local Elections Canada office

All the information you need to know such as the date, hours and address of your election day poll will be available to you on websites such as http://www.elections.ca/, and on your voter information card.
To vote on election day:
-You must be registered to vote, which you can do at the location that the election is held
-You must prove your identity and addess

2) Voting at your advance poll
Advance polls will be held on the 10th, 9th and 7th days before election day (a Friday, Saturday and Monday. It is always this way because unless special circumstances the elections are always held on Mondays).
Advance polls will be open from 12pm to 8pm.
To vote at your advance poll:
-You must be registered to vote
-You must prove your identity and address

3) voting at your local elections canada office
You can vote in person at your local Elections Canada office for majority of the election period. Voting at a local Elections Canada office means voting by special ballot.
To vote at your local office,
-You must complete an Application for Registration and Special Ballot.
-You must show proof of your identity and home address.
After your application is accepted, you will receive a special ballot voting kit. You can choose to vote then, or come back to the elections office at a later date to submit your vote.
